These beautiful rugs come in a wide range of sizes and are hand loomed with textile waste from the garment manufacturing industry in India, meaning less impact on the environment from waste going into landfill, or being burnt. The textiles woven into these rugs are mostly 100% cotton, and the stonewashed blues of these gorgeous rugs are offcuts from the manufacture of jeans. Soft and luxurious underfoot, and woven into striking patterns, they help to create a casual but striking coastal blue and white accent in any room or hallway.

HOW THEY ARE MADE:
Sugarcane Trading Co creates rugs meticulously handmade from upcycled clothing offcuts, saving them from going into landfill. Australian siblings Sally Murali and Tim Barnes are building on three generations of family retail and textile trading. Descended from sugarcane farmers, their company name resonates with their ancestry. In creating this fresh new brand grown from a passion to live life with intention and purpose, inspiring people to slow down, buy less and consume consciously, Sally and Tim aim to bring the best of artisan created homewares to people who share values of sustainability and social responsibility through their high quality, design-led pieces. To further support their artisans, Tim and Sally have established The Sugarcane Trust in India, to help enrich the lives of the artisans and their families. Each time you buy a Sugarcane Trading Co product, you contribute to the artisan communities who created it. Sugarcane Trading Co aims to leave only the lightest touch on the world's resources, preserve traditional artisan skills and give back to less well-off communities. Passionate about fair working conditions and pay for the talented artisans who create their products, Tim and Sally know and have personally met many of their workforce. Having this contact enables them to ensure the Sugarcane Trading Co products you bring into your home have been created in an environment of care and fairness for the people who make them and the earth.
